How to Create and Use Company Lists
Avantis lets you create Company Lists - custom lists of issuers based on your search criteria. These Lists can be used to:

Limit search results in areas like filings, news, insider transactions, audit fees, and auditor changes

Export to Excel for external use
By combining Avantis’ powerful search filters with Company Lists , you can quickly identify and save companies that meet your specific needs. This saves time by eliminating repetitive selections and focusing your searches on a curated set of issuers.
To Create or to Add Companies to a Company Lists
- Start in the Companies dataset
- Use any combination of search criteria to Search to generate a list of companies
- Select the companies you want to add to the Company List
- You may select individual companies
- You may select all
- Click Add to Company Lists...
- In the Select, create or modify Company Lists dialogue box you may type in a List name
- to filter your options of lists to add to below
- to create a new list
- Create - this activates when you type into the field on the left and it gives you the option to create a list of that name
- If you create a list it will be added to the collection of lists below
- Use the checkboxes to select one or more lists to add the chosen companies to
- This works for both new and existing lists
- Click Add to list to add the selected companies to the chosen list(s)
To Remove Companies from a Company List
Follow the exact same steps as above except, in step 8, click Remove from list
Another way to remove from a list is using an Active List (see below)

Active Lists: Add to (and Remove From) Company Lists Fast
- Click on Add to company lists ... on the upper right
- Select any list or lists you want to add or remove from on-the-fly
- If multiple lists are selected, identical changes will be made to all of them
- Click Select on the bottom right
- That list is now pinned on the upper right of your search grid as your active list
- Select any companies you want to add to or remove from your active list
- Click on the plus + or minus - buttons beside your active list to add or remove selected companies
- Your active list remains pinned until you click on it, then click the Clear button in the Select, create or modify company list dialogue box
- Use any combination of search criteria to Search to generate a list of companies
To Delete a Company List
- Click on Add to company lists... on the upper right
- Click on the Delete (trash can icon) beside the list you want to delete
To Rename a Company List
- Click on Add to company lists... on the upper right
- Click on the Edit (pencil icon) beside the lists you want to rename
- Type name and save
To See All the Companies Contained in a Company List
- Start in the Companies search (not Filings, News, Insider Trades, etc.)
- Choose the company list you want to examine in the Company Lists criteria on the upper left
- Click Search
- Your result list contains all of the companies in your company list
- If you want to remove any companies
- Select them with the checkboxes on the left of them
- Click on Add to company lists... on the upper right
- Select the list to remove from
- Click Remove from list
To Share a Company List
- Click on Add to company lists... on the upper right
- Click on the Share (two people side-by-side icon) beside the list you want to share
- List Name: Confirm you are sharing the correct List.
- My Role:
- Owner: Can modify, share, and manage the list.
- Viewer: Can enable/disable their own alerts but cannot edit or share the list.
- Admin: If you are an Admin, you would know. An Admin is a special permissions level granted to a few key individuals who have the powers of Owners over ALL lists for your organization
- Privacy: Admins may set list to Public so that all members of the account can see and run searches with it without needing an invitation
- Select Members to Add: Choose users to share with.
- Search: Search for users to share with.
- Global Remove: Remove multiple members' access to a list at once (using the checkboxes beside their names to first select them).
- Share Role: Assign roles (Owner or Viewer only, Admins cannot be assigned here).
- Member Remove Icons: Remove a member from the list (owners only).
To Search for Documents Related to Companies in a Company List
- Ensure the Company List Exists
- Make sure the company list you want to search against has already been created. If not, create it following the above steps.
- Select a Different Dataset
- Leave the Issuers dataset and choose any dataset like Filings, Insider Transactions, News, Audit Fees, or Auditor Changes, depending on what kinds of results you are looking for.
- Add the Company List
- Open the Company List criteria and select the list(s) you want to search against.
- Apply Other Criteria
- Add any additional criteria to refine your search.
- Run the Search
- Click Search to get results from issuers within the selected list(s).
