Searching in SEC Filings

  1. Researching SEC filings works similarly to researching SEDAR filings but with SEC-specific criteria and filters.

  2. Customize your criteria selections to refine your search results.

  3. Click Search to generate results.

  4. Click on any result to open it in the document viewer.

  5. Access the Company Profile for detailed company information by clicking the issuer name at the top of any filing. See Viewing Company Profile for details.

Searching in SEC + SEDAR filings simultaneously

  1. When searching SEC and SEDAR filings simultaneously, look for criteria labels with a small CA or US in superscript. These indicate that the criteria apply only to filings from that jurisdiction.

    1.  For example, selecting Ontario under Principal Regulator (CA) will filter your Canadian results to only those filed by issuers regulated in Ontario. However, this selection will not affect U.S. issuers featured in your search results.

SEC-Specific Criteria

  1. Exhibits – Filter your search to include only exhibits (excluding main filings) or specific exhibit types (e.g., Exhibit 99 for press releases).

    1. Search exhibit 99, especially to 6-Ks and 8-Ks, for press releases
  2. Form Type – Search by specific SEC form types (e.g., 10-K, 424A, S-1).

    • You may prefer to search using Document Category, which organizes form types under broader group headings.

    • Use Form Type for highly targeted searches when a full category is too broad.

  3. IRS Number – Also known as the Employer Identification Number (EIN), this nine-digit identifier is assigned by the IRS to U.S. business entities.
